The Future of Humanity Institute is a multidisciplinary research organisation at the University of Oxford. “Academics at FHI bring the tools of mathematics, philosophy and social sciences to bear on big-picture questions about humanity and its prospects”.
Understanding the world within this highly respected institute was key to delivering a successful bespoke environment. Enabling brilliant minds to flow and collaborate required the delivery of light filled spaces for spontaneous teamwork. The existing space required careful repurposing from a tired educational building into a variety of creative environments that could harness all opportunities for creative collision.
The scheme had to support a full extended day, working around the extensive modes of working. We used subtle changes in lighting, material, colour and texture to provide the required pace enabling maximum efficiency.
