We were asked to work on a refurbishment for this restaurant – originally the first-ever West Indian restaurant in North London. Our brief called for us to attract new clientele while not alienating their strong existing customer base. Having a strict budget, we were asked to retain all existing furniture. The layout had to support a full-day operation as it changed from breakfast and takeaways to lunch and dinner. We used material, colour, texture and lighting to create new varied seating zones while respecting the history of this much-loved local jewel.
